Tactics that save a draw
Puzzles where the best you can get is a half point, and finding it is the whole exercise. Stalemate, perpetual check, a repetition, a fortress. Half a point saved from a lost position counts exactly as much as half a point taken from a drawn one, and almost nobody practises it.
How to spot it
When the position is lost, stop looking for the best move and start looking for the most forcing one. Count your checks: a perpetual needs only two squares to check from that they cannot escape. And when you are the one with no pieces left, look at your own king's legal moves, because stalemate is a resource and not an accident.
